Privacy Policy

Your privacy is critically important to us. At Chocoholic Studios, we have a few fundamental principles:

  • We don’t ask you for personal information unless we truly need it. (We can’t stand services that ask you for things like your gender or income level for no apparent reason.)
  • We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop our products, or protect our rights.
  • We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the ongoing operation of one of our services.
  • We don’t want to be creepy or evil. We want to make great software, and we want you to love using it. We’re not in the business of being Big Brother.

Below is our privacy policy, which incorporates these goals.

If you have questions about deleting or correcting your personal data please contact our support team.

This privacy policy was adopted from Automattic’s. As such, we’ve licensed it under the CC-BY-SA.

NOTE: Event though Chocoholic Studios is just me, this policy is written in the plural for legal reasons.

Ari Porad (“Chocoholic Studios“, ”we“, ”us“, ”our“, ”me“, ”I“, ”my") produces software applications, including Castbridge, under the name Chocoholic Studios. Chocoholic Studios also operates websites and web services to support those applications. It is Chocoholic Studios’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our websites.

Any and all data provided to and/or collected by us may be transferred to, and stored and/or processed in, the United States of America. This is because Chocoholic Studios is a very small company (it's just what I do in my free time), so we can't afford to maintain separate servers for each country.

Website Visitors

Like most website operators, when you visit our website we collect non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, for example, the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Our purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how visitors use our website. From time to time, we may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of our website.

In the process of doing the above, we also collect potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. We only disclose visitor IP addresses under the same circumstances that we use and disclose personally-identifying information as described below.

Aggregated Statistics (Website)

We may collect statistics about the behaviors of visitors to our website(s). For instance, we may monitor the most popular page on our website or the most common browser used to access it. We may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, we do not disclose personally-identifying or potentially personally-identifying information except as described below.

Aggregated Statistics (Application)

We may collect statistics about the behaviors of users of our applications. For instance, we may monitor if a particular features gets used or what operating systems our users are running. We may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, we do not disclose personally-identifying or potentially personally-identifying information except as described below.

In the process of doing the above, we also collect potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. We only disclose visitor IP addresses under the same circumstances that we use and disclose personally-identifying information as described below.

Fraud Prevention

We may also collect personally-identifying and potentially personally-identifying information for the purposes of fraud prevention, for example, we may record the number of devices that a license key is being used on. Our purpose in collecting this personally-identifying and potentially personally-identifying information is to combat fraud and theft of our software. We only disclose user personally-identifying and potentially personally-identifying information under the same circumstances that we use and disclose personally-identifying information as described below.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to our website(s) and application(s) choose to interact with us in ways that require us to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that we gather depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who purchase a license for our software to provide the necessary personal and financial information required to process the transaction and to issue a license key. In each case, we collect such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with us. We do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

We disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of our employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on our behalf or to provide services available at our websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using our websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. We will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to our employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, we disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of us, third parties, or the public at large. If you have purchased one or more of our products and have supplied your email address, we may send you an email(s) to tell you about important information regarding any applications which you have purchased, for example, if a new version of a product that you have purchased comes out, we want to let you know. However, we also appreciate that you may receive a lot of email, so we try to keep this to a minimum. We will also use your email to deliver your license key when you purchase one of our applications, and to re-deliver it if you forget. We take all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. We uses cookies to help identify and track visitors, their usage of our website(s), and their website access preferences. Visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using our website(s), with the drawback that certain features of our websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

Business Transfers

If Chocoholic Studios, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that we go out of business or enter bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of Chocoholic Studios may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy.

Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, we may change our Privacy Policy from time to time, and at our sole discretion. We encourage visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to our Privacy Policy. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
